Does Rostoc support the Probat G/UG control?
Yes - Probat G/UG control is supported by Rostoc via Siemens S7 protocol over Ethernet. This 15 kg drum roaster can be connected for real-time roast logging, Curve recording, and roast analysis. For eligible accounts, Rostoc can also control the functions listed below.
Connection setup
The Probat G/UG control connects to Rostoc via Siemens S7 protocol over Ethernet.Connection: Ethernet.
Setup steps
Option A: Router or local network
- Connect the PLC with Ethernet.
- Connect your computer to the same network by Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Find the PLC IP address on the machine display, controller screen, manual, or router device list.
Option B: Direct Ethernet cable
- Connect Ethernet directly from the PLC to your computer.
- If the PLC uses automatic network addressing, change it to a manual/static IP first or reserve its address in the router before disconnecting from that router.
- Set your computer Ethernet IPv4 address manually in the same subnet as the PLC. Use the same subnet mask as the machine and choose a different IP address.
- For mask 255.255.255.0, usually keep the first three IP blocks the same and change the last one. For mask 255.255.0.0, keep the first two IP blocks and choose another address in that range.
- Leave gateway and DNS blank unless the machine manual gives values.
Finish in Rostoc
- Open Rostoc and go to Settings → Machines.
- Click + Add Machine and choose Browse Catalogue.
- Find "Probat G/UG control" in the catalog and click Add.
- In the machine settings, enter the PLC IP address. Do not enter the computer's static IP address.
- Verify any PLC rack, slot, or access details shown in the machine page or provided by the manufacturer.
- Click Connect — Rostoc handles the S7 protocol automatically.
Troubleshooting
- Rostoc cannot connect
- Check that the IP address in Rostoc matches the PLC IP address. If you use a router, confirm the computer is on the same local network. If you use a direct cable, confirm the computer and machine use the same subnet mask and different IP addresses in that subnet.
- Direct cable setup is unclear
- Use a manual IPv4 address on the computer. For a machine at 10.20.0.211 with mask 255.255.255.0, use 10.20.0.42 with that same mask. If the machine uses 255.255.0.0, keep that mask and choose another 10.20.x.x address. Leave gateway/DNS blank unless the machine manual gives values.
- IP address changed after restart
- A router can assign a new address automatically. Check the machine display or router again, or reserve the machine address in your router.
- Connection refused
- Verify the PLC IP address and ensure the computer can ping it. Check that S7 communication is enabled on the PLC.
- Data block access denied
- The PLC may require access permissions. Contact the machine manufacturer for the correct DB/rack/slot configuration.
