Santoker WiFi and Bluetooth Setup
Rostoc has experimental read-only support for exact Santoker WiFi and Bluetooth catalog entries.
WiFi entries:
- Santoker Q + X Series WiFi
- Santoker R Master Series WiFi
Bluetooth entries:
- Santoker Q + X Series BT
- Santoker R Master Series BT
- Santoker Cube BT
Use this guide only for those exact catalog entries. Other Santoker paths are separate:
- Santoker 1xPXR, 2xPXF, and 2xPXR connect over serial (Modbus RTU) and are supported — follow the Serial Setup (Modbus RTU) guide.
- Santoker R Series USB is a separate experimental USB serial path with its own catalog entry.
- Santoker Cube PID is planned; request support if you need it.
- Santoker R Series BT is not supported today; request support if you need it.
Direct machine control is not part of this experimental WiFi/Bluetooth slice.
What Rostoc can read
Section titled “What Rostoc can read”For the experimental Santoker entries, Rostoc reads live telemetry and saves it with the roast record.
Expected streams:
- bean temperature
- exhaust or environment temperature
- power feedback
- airflow feedback
- drum-speed feedback
- Cube BT entries can also expose additional temperature/RoR readings when the catalog entry includes them
Rostoc does not send control commands in this experimental slice. Keep using the Santoker workflow you trust for machine operation while Rostoc validates read-only roast logging.
Pressing milestone buttons on the roaster — charge, dry end, first crack, second crack, drop — does not disturb the connection. Rostoc skips those frames and keeps reading telemetry. The button press is not recorded as a roast event, so mark milestones in Roast Studio as usual.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- Confirm the catalog entry is one of the exact WiFi or BT entries listed above.
- Close other roasting software that may already be connected to the roaster.
- Treat the first roast as a validation roast before relying on the setup for production records.
For WiFi entries:
- Confirm the roaster provides a wireless network path for computer logging.
- Connect the computer to the roaster’s wireless network, or put the computer on the network that can reach the roaster.
If your computer uses WiFi for internet and can only join one wireless network at a time, connect internet through Ethernet or another network path during the test.
For Bluetooth entries:
- Enable Bluetooth on the computer.
- Keep the computer close to the roaster during setup.
- Allow Rostoc to use Bluetooth if your operating system asks.
- Pair the roaster first if your operating system requires pairing before apps can discover it.
Add from the catalog
Section titled “Add from the catalog”- Open Settings -> Machines in Rostoc.
- Click Add Machine and browse the catalog.
- Search for Santoker.
- Choose the exact WiFi or BT entry for your roaster.
- Confirm the support status is Experimental.
- For WiFi, review the host and port. The defaults are editable because Santoker network setups can vary by router or firmware. If you don’t know the module’s address, Scan network under the host field checks your local network for devices answering on the configured port.
- For Bluetooth, review the device name and optional device address. The default device name is SANTOKER, and Rostoc matches any Bluetooth device whose advertised name starts with the device name — a roaster advertising a longer name such as SANTOKER-1234 still matches.
- Save the machine and run a connection test.
Validate the first roast
Section titled “Validate the first roast”During the first test roast, compare Rostoc with the Santoker display or your trusted roasting workflow.
Check:
- bean temperature and exhaust/environment temperature move in the expected direction
- power, airflow, and drum-speed feedback appear as feedback streams, not temperature streams
- the saved batch reopens with the same stream labels and values
- no control action is expected from Rostoc
- the selected catalog entry matches the actual WiFi or Bluetooth setup in front of you
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Rostoc cannot connect - confirm the computer can reach the roaster’s wireless network for WiFi entries, or that Bluetooth is enabled and allowed for BT entries.
- Another app can connect but Rostoc cannot - close the other app, reconnect to the roaster network or Bluetooth device, and test again.
- The wrong streams appear - confirm the selected catalog entry is one of the exact Santoker WiFi or BT entries listed above.
- The Bluetooth connection drops mid-roast - Rostoc notices a lost link right away, marks the Machine as disconnected, and starts reconnecting on its own. Keep roasting from the machine and see what Rostoc does when the connection drops mid-roast.
- Bluetooth device is not found - move closer to the roaster, confirm Bluetooth permissions, and remove/re-pair the device if your operating system shows a stale pairing. The general connection troubleshooting guide includes Bluetooth permission checks.
- R Series BT is the machine in front of you - request support instead of using the Q/X, R Master, or Cube BT entries. R Series BT is not supported today.
- R Series USB is the machine in front of you - use the R Series USB catalog entry instead of this guide.
Support report checklist
Section titled “Support report checklist”If the setup still does not connect, send:
- exact Santoker model and catalog entry selected
- whether the machine is Q Series, X Series, R Master, Cube, or R Series
- operating system and Rostoc version
- host and port shown in Rostoc for WiFi entries
- device name and device address shown in Rostoc for Bluetooth entries
- whether the computer is connected to the roaster wireless network
- whether Bluetooth is enabled and Rostoc has permission to use it
- whether another roasting app was open
- screenshots or notes showing which readings were missing, stuck, or mislabeled
