Rostoc is a desktop application. The download is free, the account is free, and every new account starts with 30 roasts at Growth entitlement with no time limit. Machine connection happens on your own computer, which is why the desktop app is the starting point rather than a browser tab.

Before You Download

The one thing worth checking first is your roaster. Rostoc's catalogue holds 263 models across 93 brands, of which 198 are supported, 55 experimental, 8 unsupported, and 2 planned (counted 2026-09-24). Support is per model and per connection type.

If your machine is not listed, the catalogue is not final -- there is a request form, and requests are what drive the order machines get built in.

What Happens After Install

Add your machine, connect it, and log a roast. That sequence is the product: everything else in Rostoc hangs off having a real roast record attached to a real machine.

Green coffee lots and roast plans can wait until you have logged something. Setting up an inventory before you have confirmed the connection works is the most common way to waste an evening.
