Loring Setup

Rostoc supports Loring roasters over Ethernet (Modbus TCP). Use the Loring catalog entry for standard setups and Loring Auto when your machine runs Loring’s automation and you want its auto state recorded with the roast.

Rostoc reads live data from the Loring; it does not operate the machine. Keep using the Loring panel for machine operation.

What you need

An Ethernet connection between the roaster and your network, or directly to the computer.
The roaster’s IP address — from the machine’s network settings, your existing setup, Loring documentation, or a network scan during setup.
Other roasting or logging software closed, so it does not hold the connection.

Add the machine

Connect the roaster and computer to the same local network, or directly with an Ethernet cable.
Open Settings -> Machines in Rostoc.
Click Add Machine and search for Loring.
Select Loring or Loring Auto.
Review the pre-filled connection details and enter the roaster’s IP address.
Run Test Connection.

Validate the first roast

Run a short validation roast before production use:

bean temperature and environmental temperature match the Loring display
inlet and stack temperatures appear with the right labels
burner setpoint appears as a feedback stream, not an extra temperature curve
the saved Batch reopens with the same streams, units, and chart routing

Troubleshooting

Test Connection fails — confirm the computer can reach the roaster’s IP address, and that no other logging software is connected.
Readings look wrong — confirm which catalog entry you selected; Loring and Loring Auto expose different streams.
