AI and Support in Rostoc

Rostoc ships with an assistant built into the desktop app — a coach in the app, not an alarm. It answers product questions, discusses your roasts with the Batch data in front of it, and walks you through connection problems. When you need a human, the same window reaches the Rostoc team directly.

Click the Open Rostoc support bubble in the corner of the main window to start a conversation. Type a question the way you would ask a colleague — how something works, where a setting lives, what a number means. The assistant answers with context from what you are doing in the app, links the relevant docs pages under a Docs label, and asks a clarifying question when your question could mean more than one thing.

Past conversations are kept — click the history icon in the chat header to reopen one.

Open a Batch and the chat offers to talk about it, with starting points to choose from:

  • Compare phase timing — drying, Maillard, and development timing against the reference, starting with the biggest measured difference.
  • Cup expectations — what cup differences to expect versus the reference, based on the known Batch facts.
  • Roast degree signals — whether the final temperature, weight loss, color, and development suggest the roast degree changed.
  • Adjustment ideas — what to adjust on the next roast, using only the differences visible in this Batch.

You can also ask your own questions. The assistant works from the Batch’s recorded facts, so answers stay grounded in what actually happened — it pairs well with the consistency score and roast analysis.

When Rostoc fails to connect to a Machine, the chat offers to help: it picks up what was being attempted — the connection type and where it failed — together with the Machine’s current status, and suggests concrete next steps. Accept the suggestion, or open the chat yourself and ask why the connection failed.

For manual, step-by-step guides, see Connection troubleshooting.

The assistant is not the end of the road. Under any of its answers, click Reach out (next to “This doesn’t help? Contact us.”) to send a support request to the Rostoc team without leaving the app — add a subject, a description, and screenshots if they help, then click Submit ticket.

Two more paths to the team:

  • Settings → Preferences → Support & Diagnostics — Send Feedback sends a report straight to the team; Export Diagnostics creates a ZIP file with logs and system info that you can attach when describing a problem.
  • Email — write to hello@rostoc.co.
