Summary

On Windows, the computer IP is changed from the network adapter IP settings. Only change it when a direct Ethernet setup needs the computer to be in the same network range as the machine. If this computer is on a managed company network, ask your network admin or Rostoc support before changing adapter settings.

Steps

  1. First confirm whether this is a direct Ethernet cable or a router/local network setup.
  2. For a router/local network setup, usually do not change the computer IP.
  3. For a direct Ethernet cable, open Windows network settings for the Ethernet adapter.
  4. Switch to a manual address only for that Ethernet adapter.
  5. Use the same mask shown by the machine and choose a different IP address in the same range. Leave gateway and DNS blank unless the machine manual gives values.
  6. In Rostoc, enter the machine IP, not the computer IP.
