Summary

RS-485 machines usually connect through a USB-to-RS-485 adapter. If Rostoc sees the adapter but the machine does not respond, check that the adapter wires match the labels in the machine manual. Do not change advanced settings unless support asks.

Steps

  1. Power off the machine before touching wiring, and follow the machine manual.
  2. Confirm the USB-to-RS-485 adapter appears on the computer.
  3. Match the A/B or +/- wiring to the labels in the machine manual.
  4. Install the adapter driver if required.
  5. In Rostoc, choose the serial port assigned to the adapter and keep advanced settings unchanged unless support asks.
