Does Rostoc support the Prometheus Roasters Prometheus Ignis?

Yes - Prometheus Roasters Prometheus Ignis is supported by Rostoc via Modbus RTU over RS-485 serial (57800 baud). This Machine can be connected for real-time roast logging, Curve recording, and roast analysis. For eligible accounts, Rostoc can also control the functions listed below.

Connection setup

The Prometheus Roasters Prometheus Ignis connects to Rostoc via Modbus RTU over RS-485 serial (57800 baud).Connection: RS-485 Serial.

Setup steps

1. Connect a USB-to-RS-485 adapter to your computer, then connect the adapter to the machine RS-485 port or terminals.
2. Match the A/B or +/− wiring to the machine manual. If the adapter has ground, connect it only when the manual recommends it.
3. Install the adapter driver if your operating system requires it.
4. Open Rostoc and go to Settings → Machines.
5. Click + Add Machine and choose Browse Catalogue.
6. Find "Prometheus Roasters Prometheus Ignis" in the catalog and click Add.
7. Back on the main screen, click Use for the Machine if needed, then choose the serial port assigned to the adapter. The baud rate, serial settings, and unit ID are pre-filled from the catalog.
8. Close other roasting software that may be using the same adapter.
9. Click Connect to start reading data.

Troubleshooting

Serial port not detected

Ensure the USB-to-RS-485 adapter driver is installed. Try a different USB port. On macOS, check System Information > USB.

No response from roaster

Verify the baud rate and parity settings match the roaster's configuration. Check RS-485 wiring polarity (A/B or +/−).

CRC errors in log

Reduce cable length or add a termination resistor. Ensure no other device shares the RS-485 bus.

Another app is open

Close other roasting software that may be using the same serial adapter before connecting in Rostoc.
