Machine Control Versus Logging
Summary
Machine control means controls in the Rostoc desktop app that send burner, airflow, drum-speed, setpoint, or machine-specific commands. It is available by default for every account, gated by the exact machine model and connection. A machine can support live data logging without supporting direct control.
Steps
- Establish whether the customer means reading/logging or sending active commands.
- Check the exact model and connection in the Rostoc Machine catalog; do not infer control support from telemetry support.
- If executable controls are listed, name only the listed controls and ranges.
- Do not describe access itself as limited; it is on by default for every account.
- Confirm the customer has the correct Machine active and connected in the desktop app, with other remote control software closed.
- Tell the operator to keep physical controls and the emergency stop accessible and to verify every command on the Machine.
- If a command fails, explain that an on-screen rollback does not physically roll back the Machine.
