Recording Weight, Colour And Notes After A Roast

Summary

When a roast finishes, Rostoc asks for its finish weight. The confirmation leads with Review batch, which opens the roast's record with the output weight ready to correct — Rostoc fills it in from the plan where it can, so this is the moment to enter what the scale says. The confirmation clears on its own after a few seconds; if it is gone, open the batch and use Edit batch in the page header.

Edit batch holds the roast record: Output Weight, Colour Reading, Colour Scale, Notes and Roaster Name. Anything that moves green stock — the plan, the blend, the lots and the input weight — is behind Adjust green & inventory in the same dialog. Charge and drop temperatures come from the roast itself and are shown on the batch page rather than typed in. Home's Needs Attention list carries recent roasts with no drop weight recorded.

Steps

  1. At the end of a roast, choose Review batch on the Batch Created confirmation. Rostoc's main window comes forward on that batch with the record already open.
  2. If the confirmation has already cleared, open the batch instead — from Home's Needs Attention list, where a roast with no weight shows Review, or from Batches — and click Edit batch in the page header.
  3. In the Edit Batch dialog, fill in what you need: Output Weight, Colour Reading, Colour Scale, Notes and Roaster Name. Save.
  4. To correct the input weight, the plan, the blend or the lots the roast drew from, use Adjust green & inventory at the bottom of the same dialog. These are separate because changing them moves stock, so that dialog states what will change and asks for a reason.
  5. Charge temp and drop temp are read from the roast and shown on the batch page under Thermal milestones. They are not typed in. Weight Loss % is worked out from input and output weight and appears under Roast Weights.
  6. Confirm the record before printing a label — the label carries the output weight. Print label is offered on the same end-of-roast confirmation, and afterwards from the Actions menu on the batch page.
